When we are young, around the age or 2 or 3 if I remember correctly, we seem to have as a basic response to everything that is being told to us “Why?”. Now when we grow older that first response seems to fade away, it is being replaced by facts and opinions you have gathered throughout your lifetime. Now of course that’s a great good, I cant tell often enough how great it is to gather facts, create your opinion and repeat those 2 over and over again. This also includes that sometimes you have to accept that facts have changed and therefor recreate your opinion if such is required.

Now the first part, gathering facts and creating an opinion already seems to be a big effort to many. Instead they take what they hear from the media for facts and a smaller group of people even gains their opinion from other people; either their parents, priest, rabbi, imam, teacher, boss or idol are the source of their opinion instead of their own conclusion based on the facts they have gathered, or received. The downside is that way people don’t learn to gather facts and create their own opinion, they will be stuck to facts and opinions that they have been told. This means that the only thing they can do as a response to something that doesn’t match “their facts and opinion” is just disagree to it and argue over it.

When we are young we don’t have these facts and opinions yet. When we were told something we couldnt say we disagreed or that it didnt match our facts, so we just wondered. Now when you wonder about something, you should look for the answer. Being young, not able to read, our primary source for the answers are our parents. Many have gotten similar answers to questions like “what color is the grass?” and “what’s the name of that flower?” since it are facts. Aren’t they? Yet when we are young and we don’t know yet what a fact is, so most likely many of those answers have been reacted to with a simple “why?”. And often our parents(and teachers later) have answered to that with “just because it is like that!”, often with a slight irritation, making clear that we were not allowed to search for the answers any further.

This has become a barrier for many when they grow up, their minds have somehow adjusted to the “just because it is like that” mindset and often even have been assimilated to that. This mindset creates the box their are thinking in, the box where they are living in. Especially the assimilated people don’t wonder why anymore it seems. They don’t ask “why?” anymore, they dont start searching for the answers anymore. I think such is a shame, since if you don’t search for the answers you are missing such beautiful journey’s. Now I am not claiming that you will find an answer for everything you wonder about. Their are quite some constraints when it comes down to finding the answers. One most people will think of nearly straight away is that there is no answer, another might be that it requires a certain intelligence and a last option for me to suggest is that the facts and opinions we gathered are a blockade to accept the answer.

So if you can’t find the answer, wonder why that is. Start by asking yourself or the one you are talking with a simple question “Why?”, just like a 2a3year old child.

After years of talking about this new internet protocol, which is gonna solve the approaching(or arrived , depends on what scale you look at it) problem of IPv4 addresses that (have) run out, big internet sites are gonna test if their IPv6 infrastructure will work properly.

Now I could write here a story about the history of this, but way better stories have been told already. I could give you technical information about the subject, but I have read explanations that I would not even come close to. So I will just give a brief insight of what I did.

I have added an AAAA record to my domain’s DNS with my IPv6 address this early morning and trying to see if it came up in lookups so far. It feels a bit like trying to blow the candles blindly, since I dont know if the company where I host my DNS had all preparations done, nor did I exactly know if what I did was the correct way of doing it. But guess that’s what today is about, just try to make a giant leap forward for internet.

I wish that the internetgigants like Google, Facebook, Yahoo and many others will have a succesful day implementing IPv6 and that many will follow their example soon. Not to forget that my website doesnt disappear from the internet due some bad DNS configuration on my side ;-)

So many 128bit addresses and Quadruple-A DNS records for you all, Happy World IPv6 Day.

Sweet Tomorrow,

I heard you were coming and must confess that my heart started beating faster.
The thoughts of your unexplored beauty, your unsoiled character and your endless potency.

I would like to give you so much, but if I think about it never seems enough. Too short, too small, too fast.
Dreams which I would like to realize with you, experiences I would like to gain with you, pleasure I would like to experience with you.

You always seemed so far away, unreachable, but now you are closing in my desire for you grows.
Tomorrow, I love you,

Love,

Marcel

Is it better to know or not to know, a question that has been driving me for several years now.
The choice not to know is easy, you dont have to put extra effort in figuring out how things are really connected, you can close your eyes for whatever happens around you and wont be bothered by the many things you could have found out. One of the quotes that describes this is “Ignorance is Bliss”. I will first get into this.
Definitions
Ignorance: a state of being uninformed.
Bliss: a state of profound satisfaction, happiness and joy, a constant state of mind, undisturbed by gain or loss.

So when is someone ignorant? when he just isnt being informed or when he chooses not to be informed? I think that both are a form of ignorance, the first being a natural ignorance without the reason of achieving “bliss”, the second is the person that avoids getting information or doing research after a certain topic to keep his life and mindset save from leaving the “bliss”. Such makes me wonder tho, would they really have a more blissful life because they ignore whats going around them? Will you really prevent getting confronted with topics when you ignore them?
I dont think so, we live in a world that changes rapidly, some say even changes too fast. This means that choices of today will be visible tomorrow more then any other time in history of mankind. What if you just dont think about how political choices affect your lifestyle, you will be confronted with it. In a dutch news article earlier this week it stated that the dutch population would vote differently then their parlement in 50% of the cases. So if dutch people are ignorant to their politics, thinking it will work out alright, they will be confronted with something they dont want.
Same on environmental aspect, tho I am no green peace activists, it takes no rocket scientist to know that we need to take good care of our planet. The plants and trees that grow on there provide us with oxygen and food. The animals that live on there provide us with food in many different ways(eg. milk, eggs & honey). Now we can ignore our personal responsibility in order to preserve our planet or be less ignorant and take our responsibility. If we all ignore our responsibility it’s quite certain it will come back to us sooner or later. Scientist already predict with our current populationgrowth within several decades we wont have enough land to both house all the people and grow enough food for them.

Also the world around us is hardening, we see more violence and misery then ever before. Television channels and movies are constantly pushing the edges of what’s acceptable. Did you know that in the first Rambo movie only 1 person was killed, while in the sequels in chronological order: 69, 132 and 236 people were killed. A few years ago it will still big news if someone was victim of senseless violence, nowadays if hardly even reaches the local newspaper. Charity organisations are even photoshopping/video-editing footage of disasters for fundraising by adding flies and dirt to it. The reason they give for doing so is since otherwise people clearly dont seem to be moved by those pictures anymore and therefor not donate. Every time I hear something like that, i gotta think of this song of the manic street preachers “if you tolerate this, then your children will be next”

And that’s what it will be all about, we live right here, right now and will have to choose what we really wanna tolerate. Do we really want to live in a democracy where politicians clearly have no idea what the people really want, do we want our children to grow up on a planet where food and clean drinking water will become more scarce and where violence and misery will only increase?

If we ignore all those things happening, will that really give that bliss that saying is claiming?
